About Us

Founded by a group of scientists, technologists and social workers, in April 1996, ARTI develops and transfers innovative rural technologies to rural people for income generation and improving their quality of life.

We have now nearly 25 standardised and field-tested technologies to offer to rural entrepreneurs through our Rural Entrepreneurship Development Centre (REDC).Innovative appropriate rural technologies with special emphasis on making traditional rural businesses more profitable and also on generating novel employment opportunities in rural areas.



Infrastructure

  • Area about 1500 sq.ft. (Dormitory facilities for 40 trainees. Beds, mattresses, tables, training hall with audio-video equipments, dining hall and kitchen, tables, chairs, kitchen with all kitchenware's.
  • Live demonstration units of all technologies
  • Commercial units of : Nursery technology, Charcoal and briquetting, Improved cookstovs, Bamboo technology.
  • ARTI is a registered scientific society.
  • The main objective is to serve as an instrument of rural development through the application of scientific knowledge and technology.
  • Activity is to develop, standardize the Appropriate Rural Technologies.
  • Diffusion of technologies through Entrepreneurship Development and Commercial Channel.
  • Special emphasis is laid on generating business and employment opportunity in the rural sector.
  • To date ARTI has completed more than 70 sponsored projects and have 35 technologies to offer rural entrepreneurs.

The Institute was founded in April 1996 by a group of scientists, technologists and social workers, who had devoted practically their entire adult life to rural development. The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 under no. Maharashtra/4703/SATARA and under the Bombay Public Trusts Act of 1950 under no. F-4674.

Objective

The primary objective of the Institute is to develop, standardise, popularise and commercialise innovative rural technologies aimed at improving the quality of life and standard of living of rural inhabitants of India. Special emphasis would be laid on making traditional rural businesses more profitable and on generating new business and employment opportunities in the rural sector through introduction of novel technologies. Organisational setup: The Society has currently 24 members. Only those participating actively in the activities of the Society are accepted as members. The trustees are elected from among the members.
